We have been taking photographs for nearly 45 years. Sue’s first camera was a Number 5 Ensigne Carbine bellows camera made by Houghton - Butcher and mine a Kodak Brownie 127 given to me by my father in 1961 with the comment ‘You don’t need a fancy camera to learn about composition and light.’ Words that are as true today as they were then. Growing up in the industrial town of Widnes we grew up photographing a mixture of family, friends, holidays and local events such as Parish Fairs. A good background for learning what worked as a photograph and just as importantly what didn’t.
Sue followed her career in teaching and me in engineering while continuing our interest in photography. Sue & Steve Photography was born as a website to showcase our photography and in February 2007 the decision was made to launch as a business selling prints and manufacturing and selling a range of greetings cards based on our own photography.
We are based in Guisborough where we produce our own range of cards and calendars, our cards are currently on sale in high street outlets in Guisborough and throughout the local area. In February 2008 our ‘Perfect Day’ Exhibition opened in Guisborough and following excellent public acclaim moved to Stokesley Town Hall in March.
